The Rip Post

Entitled
Do you feel
You have some sort
Of entitlement,
Some sort of
Captivation?

You’ve been wondering
Why it is you exist
in this earthly realm,
You used to remark you
Didn’t ask to be here.

You feign ignorance
About your calling
Except in dreams,
Wherein it’s laid out
For you bright and clear,
Until you wake up
To the forgetfulness
Of the everyday world.

Time passes, but you cling to it.
This world, what will you bring to it?

Do you think you are
Some sort of prince or nabob?
Or perhaps King of the Jungle,
Peeling a banana in a baobob?

Running out of steam, running
Short of sail, whenever you begin
It’s then you fail, forgetfulness,
In your case, is a mortal’s sin.
