The Rip Post

Who we were that day.
got a bag with some sun still alive in it
checked myself through the tired eyes of time
grabbed the eloping moon
rubbed it across my confused mind
waited for the sentry to yell all clear
he meant to do it, but something got caught in his throat
they raise the flag of who we were that day
they raise it and smile
the solution to our problem, it got sold out the first day
they are waiting for it to come back again
when the bad weather lets up.
maybe we never really had a problem all that bad to begin with.
i was waiting for the light to change
the light was waiting for me to change
meant to do that, change i mean, but something got caught
in my soul
got a bag with some love still alive in it
will you roll head first into it
i believe it's big enough
if you've got the time or the heart
grab your own eloping moon
rub it tender across your done in mind
who we are any day
wave it wide
wave it as if you mean it
meant to do that, mean it, i mean
and nothing is caught in my feelings now
except maybe you
except always you
