IF INDIVIDUALS WERE THE GOVERNMENT
Wouldn't it be kind of weird and confusing
if us measly individuals began treating each other
like the government
I mean, the government, it digs being expeditious
but it ain't no consistent duck
for years when Iran was the bad guy on the Middle East block
we gave Saddam money and weapons, the same kind we don't
like him having now
Saddam he was our guy
because he was slugging it out with Iran
now that's done
Iran I guess is cool or just nonexistent
and Iraq is the bad guy on the block
wouldn't it be strange if we, ourselves, acted toward each
other
with that degree of consistency
hey there, i like you for two months
and then during the third month i will hate you and try to
kill you
don't they have laws against that kind of stuff
hmm
some people say governments don't need to be consistent
that they play the seemingly winning hand of any given
moment
i say
all of it is confusing
all of it is some strange river
that you can try and cross forever
but somehow the boat finds a way to
spring some leak
